Collaboration and consensus building are key themes driving Cardano forward. The road to Voltaire is an exciting one, with many processes and obstacles to overcome, requiring the participation of the entire community. By empowering ada holders with the appropriate resources and opportunities to participate in protocol development, Cardano continues to achieve important milestones and is setting new standards for governance on Chain.

Overview of SanchoNet

Putting community at the heart of Cardano's growth, SanchoNet connects ada holders and builds community through a series of governance actions and new capabilities designed to optimize Cardano for on-chain community governance. Launched this summer, SanchoNet serves as a controlled testbed for ada holders to experience first-hand and provide feedback on the on-chain specifications of the improved protocol CIP 1694. Plus Copper is incentivized to take on specific roles, such as ada holders, stake pool operators (SPOs), and delegated representatives (DReps) to test and improve on-chain governance mechanisms.

SanchoNet is being rolled out in phases to give the community enough time and freedom to test and provide feedback on all CIP-1694 features and tools needed to drive the future governance framework. hybrid of Cardano.

Build consensus through stages

Good governance is complex. It takes a lot of ideas, research, testing, and refinement to build a decentralized, secure, and inclusive platform. Instrumental to the development of Cardano is the careful consideration of all Cardano development components. Here, each of SanchoNet's six phases is carefully considered and designed to give testers access and control over Cardano's entry into the next era of governance.

Initially using the Command Line Interface (CLI) for actions and early interaction with SanchoNet requires high technical competence. SanchoNet is currently in Phase 5. In the later stages of the testnet program, implementing a more user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) will expand participation opportunities to a broader audience, not Technically savvy and ultimately every ada owner:

Phase 1 of SanchoNet welcomes users to submit governance actions under the new constitution and for SPOs to vote on said actions. This highlights the important functions of participatory governance and democratic decision-making in enhancing the founding tenets of Cardano going forward. This level of decision-making and self-management laid the foundation for Voltaire and placed great power in the hands of the community, speaking truth to the concept of for the community, by the community. This is fundamental to Cardano's purpose.

Phase 2 focuses on stimulating community participation by allowing ada holders to register as DReps, delegate voting authority to other DReps, or review and vote on governance actions as DReps. way is DRep. This level of participation is intended to build community trust and confidence in Cardano's commitment to empowering ada holders with full representation and decision-making rights. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to represent the common interests of the community as DReps, a feature of CIP-1694 unique to Cardano.

Phase 3 revolves around submitting and voting on information governance actions. These actions are considered the simplest because they do not have any on-chain implications. In essence, `info` actions work like a polling feature.

Phase 4 introduces Commission updates, motions of no confidence and defunding actions. With these updates, it is now possible to elect Constitutional Committee members, replace one or more committee members, and express no confidence in the committee through administrative action. This phase shows how users can actively participate in the community and democratic decision-making processes – key components that underpin the values of participatory governance under CIP-1694. Once elected, members have the ability to vote on actions that require their approval. The process of sending Treasury withdrawal actions realizes the protocol's ability to fund its future growth.

Phase 5 marks a major milestone by integrating administrative actions to update protocol parameters. This development represents one of the most fascinating aspects of governance to date. It empowers the community to fine-tune 45 protocol parameters, delivering on its promise of allowing the community to control the protocol, shaping its behavior and future according to their vision.

Additionally, this update introduces expanded key support, which improves the user experience for those using Hierarchy Defined (HD) key generation. It

will also prioritize improving queries against the ledger and governance state, empowering users to programmatically retrieve needed data from the blockchain.

Phase 6 lays the foundation for the future by introducing governance actions for the initiation of the hardfork. This is a particularly exciting development, as it paves the way for the community to collectively agree on when the protocol is ready for the new era, allowing the community to seamlessly integrate key technical updates and updates. and is decided democratically.

SanchoNet is the gateway to an effective community governance framework. It is a safe and secure testing environment that exemplifies the foundation of CIP-1694 by advocating for community building and democratic consensus. The community is encouraged to participate in SanchoNet and contribute to Cardano's growth trajectory. Only with community engagement can we identify and address any issues and knowledge gaps – vital to ushering in the next era of governance on Cardano.
